Spiced Nuts

What is it about Christmas? Why is it that the season makes us all want to do a little something extra, try maybe a little harder, push a bit further, and generally make things a little more special. This recipe for spiced nuts follows that suit.  It takes something many of us eat regularly to that next level. A little something extra, maybe a little harder, your effort pushed a bit further. The result? Something more than a little special…they’re incredible. 

We promise you’ll go nuts over these nuts!

Ok so we know you’re all thinking…Really? Now I can’t just put a bowl of the deluxe nut mix out? I need to add another thing to my already huge Christmas “to-do” list?!? Make the spiced nuts!?!

These nuts are also SO pretty and taste SO amazing that they make incredible gifts as well. Boom! Serve them to your guests or wrap them to take when you’re the guest.

These nuts are so quick to make up!  Literally they can be in the oven within 5-10 min. We won’t lie though, they do need to bake for approximately 1.5 hrs…It’s the perfect amount of time to get those presents wrapped!

These nuts are the perfect combination of a Christmas kitchen…cinnamon, cloves, allspice and….chili powder! That’s right, we’ve added a bit of heat to keep you warm during the winter season. They make the perfect hostess gift, or simply fill a bowl when company is over. We promise you’ll go nuts over these nuts!


  • 3 cups gluten-free mixed nuts

  • 2 egg whites

  • 3 tbsp water

  • 1 1/2 cups icing sugar

  • 3 tbsp corn starch

  • 2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves

  • 1/2 tsp allspice

  • 1/2 tsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp salt


  • Preheat oven to 250°F.
  • Measure nuts into medium mixing bowl.
  • Beat egg whites and water with a fork or small whisk.
  • Pour egg mixture over nuts and stir well. Ensure all nuts are covered in the egg white mixture.
  • Combine next 7 ingredients in mixing bowl and spread over cookie sheet.
  • Add nuts to sugar/spice mixture and begin to stir. Mix well to coat.
  • Bake in oven, stirring occasionally to keep separated. When cool, store in airtight container.
