Caramel Apple Floats

Who doesn’t love a drink that includes whipping cream? Or better yet, who doesn’t love a drink that includes HOMEMADE caramel sauce?! This float can be made both with apple cider or as a virgin apple bubbly option.

The perfect family ending to summer holidays and the start of fall. Bring on the apples and caramel. Lets cheers to crisp mornings and warm afternoons that allow us to still enjoy a treat on the backyard patio.

The secret to this drink is the caramel. Our caramel recipe will take this drink from good to incredible! It’s smooth, easy to make, and stores in the fridge well. This creamy caramel sauce is always ready for dipping apples, pouring over your favourite latte, or in this case pouring over ice cream.

If you’ve ever made caramel sauce before, you may remember it being a little tricky. Have no worries. Like everything we do, we have made a caramel sauce that’s easy to cook up and contains all accessible ingredients.

Literally combine 3 ingredients and within 10 minutes, you’ll have the most incredible caramel sauce ever!

Back to our floats- Rim your glasses using cornsyrup and turbinado sugar and drip the caramel down the insides of your glasses. Be adventurous and have fun with your glassware for serving. We used wine glasses for the adults which was a hit 🙂

If this isn’t enough with the caramel alone, fill the glasses with gluten-free vanilla bean ice cream and get ready to pour over the apple cider or bubbly!

Top with whipping cream and another drizzle of caramel! Add a straw, family or friends, and a patio.

  • caramel drizzle in glass and on whipping cream topping

  • 4 – 8 scoops of gluten-free vanilla bean ice cream

  • 4 cans of your favourite apple cider / OR / 1 bottle of bubbly apple juice

  • 3 cups of whipping cream, whipped for topping

Directions

  • First make caramel sauce. This can be done days in advance and kept in the fridge (simply warm slightly in pot or microwave) or made when needed.
  • Caramel Sauce – Melt butter in medium saucepan on low heat.
  • Add brown sugar and dissolve. Stir often.
  • When sugar is completely dissolved, add whipping cream and continue to stir. Bring to a boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and cool at room temperature completely before refrigerating if wanting to store.
  • To make Apple Floats – Rim glasses first by dipping rims in white corn syrup and then roll in turbinado sugar.
  • Using caramel sauce, drizzle in glasses.
  • Scoop 1-2 scoops of gluten-free vanilla bean ice cream in each glass.
  • Pour cider or apple bubbly to fill the glass. (You may want to continue adding as you drink.)
  • Top with whipping cream and more caramel drizzle.
  • Add your favourite straw and a backyard…Enjoy!!
