Oh yummy….caramel popcorn. It always has an essence of fun doesn’t it? We both remember growing up in homes where caramel popcorn was made for special occasions. Christmas – there were caramel popcorn balls. Halloween – the caramel popcorn was passed along in the loot. Birthday parties had bowls full while games were being played. We decided this traditional treat needed to be showcased again. It needed a new generation, maybe a new name…and so, may we introduce Tawny Popcorn. We know you’ll fall hard in love…
You’ll be smitten with this old favourite and we’re pretty sure your family and friends will be too. In fact, we became so excited about the possibility of flavoured popcorn, we developed 12 different flavours!!! This is simply the first on the list! Over the course of this next year we will share new flavours with you all. Let yourself be enticed. Life is uncertain, weren’t we told to eat dessert first?!
Pull out your popcorn tools and pop 16 cups with no toppings. Use whatever variety you have to make your popcorn -hot air, stir-stick on the bottom models, crank shaft, or simply shaking the pot on the stove. It absolutely doesn’t matter how you get there, simply fill your bowl!
Once your popcorn is ready to go, gather your caramel ingredients. We trialed using different sugars and, although the flavours differed, the recipe generally always seemed to turn out. But at the end of the day, our favourites were the basics. Either a brown or white sugar worked the best.
